The Resource Centre

The document collection of the Resource Centre covers UNESCO’s areas of competence and includes subject areas, such as Science, Education, Culture, Human Resource Development, Human Rights, Youth and Youth Development.
Publications from the Commonwealth, the Francophonie and other diverse organizations are also available.
Moreover, the Centre’s collection includes a growing number of documents produced/published by the Ministry of Education, Human Resource Development, Youth and Sports.

The Centre currently houses over 3,500 publication titles (including a small collection of French and Spanish titles) in the form of monographs, journals, audio cassettes, video cassettes and CDs.
The collection also includes a number of text and reference materials for CXC, novels and collections of short stories.

The holdings of the Resource Centre have been classified, catalogued and compiled in a database using the CDS/ISIS library programme. This programme guarantees easy access to the centre’s collection. Searches can be done on authors, titles or subjects, providing search results that are prompt, accurate and precise.

The Resource Centre produces a quarterly bulletin: 'On the Shelves' which is intended to provide users with an update on publications available at the Centre. This bulletin is circulated to staff as well as members of the Sub-commissions of the National Commission. The response to 'On the Shelves' has been encouraging, and its circulation has contributed to increased patronage and use of the Resource Centre.
On average the Resource Centre serves a total of 100 'visiting' patrons annually. We also respond to numerous requests by phone and mail (both email and regular mail).
